The sculptures in this series deal with personal thoughts and experiences. The ideas derived from thinking about all the things a person has to go through in a life time. These things can be small or large, happy or sad, good or bad. Whatever the feeling may be, these are the things that direct you. Experiences make you who you are.All of these sculptures hold different meanings for me and for each viewer. I created actual passages that the viewers could go through so they could experience the feeling of going through something difficult. Everyone has to go through things they don’t want to and those are all different for each person. The sculptures are a visual version of some of the things that I was afraid to go through.

2 Nurses, same patient, 2 different outcomes...

I watched this happened last night-
SOLWD=Sweet Old Lady With Dementia Nurse 1: "I have your pills here, would you like to take them?"

SOLWD: "What?"

Nurse 1: "I have your pills here, would you like to take them?"

SOLWD: "NO!" "OH NO!"

Nurse 1: "Come on Honey, you need to take your pills."

SOLWD: "NO, NO, NO!"

Nurse 1: "Come on, lets take them."

SOLWD: "NO! Take IT out of here!" (When she said "IT," she didn't mean the pills!)

Nurse 1: Leaves without giving her the pills.


1/2 hour later-

Nurse 2: "Open your mouth."

SOLWD: "What?"

Nurse 2: "Open your mouth."

SOLWD: Opens mouth

Nurse 2: "Thank you."

SOLWD: "Thank you."

I'm sure they are called something else, somewhere...but we call them dinosaur eggs....

You take a hard boiled egg and wrap it in ground sausage....I brown them in a skillet and then cook them in the oven for 30 minutes @ 350....til sausage is cooked through...something like that...

serve with jelly.....

That's good business!

I have a wonderful senior lady with dementia that I work with....Her family owns a very successful business. I have found that using the word "business" works really well with her....

I use:

"Now, that's good business"
"Let's go take care of business"
"business is good"

she loves Tony Bennett and Doris Day...I say....."Now that's show business!" when we are watching them and she really responds...

Are there any other "business" phrases that you can think of..?

Well, I have to admit....

that thanksgiving is pretty easy when you make everything from a box or can...except the Turkey! I almost used the bag of potatoes...but opted for the packaged ones....I usually make pies, mashed potatoes, stuffing...the works...but this year I fell behind....

chocolate lab

This morning I saw a beautiful chocolate lab being walked downtown.....he seemed to have a bird in his mouth..I thought omgosh I can't believe his master let him kill a bird....but as they got closer I noticed that he just had some brown leather gloves in his mouth...he was totally enjoying carrying them in his mouth...like a dead bird..

it is interesting how much the breed groups (sporting, hound, herder, toy) are so true to the dog...

pug is just a toy....

the pug was not interested....

and overheard a little conversation from around the corner where a computer "techie" meeting was going on for a major computer company....they were on a break in the hallway.... the funny thing is ..is that this conversation could have taken place a couple million years ago among cavemen...


guy 1- "It works, but we don't know why it works."

guy 2- "mumble mumble blah blah blah" (I couldn't hear what he said)

guy 3- "that's when tools become dangerous"


I wish I could have heard more...it seemed important...
